Sword of the New World

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

I registered on this online game and started playing one month ago. The game is also known by “Granado Espada”. It is a very well done game with very realistic textures, very detailed environment and very detailed characters. The first time I played, I talked to a NPC and I thought that you were presented an extremely detailed 2D character view, out of the 3D environment, but what it happens is that you are zoomed into a close view within the 3D environment! Cities are very well done too, colorful and full of details (the games client size is 3GB)

When you start, you have to create a family and three members with three different names, out of five available character types: A fighter, a magician, an elementalist, a musketeer and a scout. I chose a fighter, a magician and an elementalist.

After the tutorial, where you learn the basic movements, you start the real game play. At the beginning, everything looks very easy, becuase you start leveling up very fast, you never die or loose experience (instead of dying, you characters fall down inconscious for a few seconds) and this game has got the “auto-fight” feature: Your team characters fight automaticly every monter at fight range. Obviously, they fight with basic attacks and never use advanced spells, but this is fair enough for keeping a good leveling average. This way, you can leave you characters fighting, turn off your monitor and wait for a few hours to go one or two levels up. Needless to say that for “auto-fight” you need to be in an area with mobs five or six levels below yours.

One of the disadvantages on using the “auto-fight” feature is, that you can’t pick up any drops (and sometimes, mobs drop valuable items) But as a lot of people practice this kind of leveling and despite dropped items are reserved to a specific family, after a few seconds, this items become “pickable” for anyone, so you can “harvest” valuable items waiting in an area with people auto-fighting while in front of your computer.

There are also quiet areas and very dynamic areas. Some areas are good for auto-fight and some others are not. Wherever you find an unattended group of people fighting mobs, will be probably a good area to place you team on unattended mode. I used the “Al Quelt Moreza” dungeon for auto-fight on my first levels, and the “Tetra Ruins” for higher levels.

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

This time, the game it is a lot more simple than the first one. Much simpler games, simpler movements and without history mode. There are 5 different travels around the world, with 5 games in each one. The fifht game is the music one, wich is like the one on the previous version, but not as funny as it used to be.

The shooting games are not part of the main game. You can play them apart when you unlock them by playing on the travel mode. The shooting games are very realistic this time because they have been recorded in real scenariofinished with digital rabbids attacking you.

You can also create your custom travels, joining different games from the standard travels.

I finished the whole game in one day. I didn´t play all the games, because every travel consists on 5 gamos out of, maybe seven or eight, so if you want to play them all, you have to repeat every travel until randomly you play to all of the games.

Maybe for the multiplayer mode, this is a better game, but for the stand alone mode it is not as funny as the previous one was. I enjoyed a lot playing the first one, and I enjoyed a lot the dancing part, because you were able to dance and enjoy watching the rabbids dancing. In this one, you don’t have time to wath what is happening, or you can miss some of the movements.

The conclussion is: If you havent got the first Raving Rabbids and you want to play alone, go buy it before the second part, because you will enjoy it a lot. But if you want to play simple multiplayer games, give it a try to the second part.

Sonic and the Secret Rings

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

This is a good Wii game. You play it with the wiimote sideways and dependeing on the inclination to one side or another, Soinc will turn to the left or to the right. Sonic jumps whenever you press button “two” and if you make a fast movement forward, sonic will go forward or will attack if there are any lit aims on the screen. If you also roll the wii mote backwards, sonic would eventually go backwards (if you have got this ability acivated on your ability ring).

Basically, the game consists on Sonic running constantly and you having to go from left to right getting all the rings, jumping whenever you are required to, killing some bad creatures and avoiding obstacles. On your way you will find special objects like treasures, eggs, switches and you will also have to hit them to obtain something extra or continue your way.

The multiplayer minigames are very good for having fun on a party. I recomend this mini games for parties. They are lots of short games (60 seconds) very easy to understand and very easy to play for new wii players (this people that come to your home and see the wii for their first time) You can play up to four players with four wiimotes. Most of the games are all at once and some others by turns.
